Who is eligible to take IELTS One Skill Retake?
You can take IELTS One Skill Retake if:
- you have completed a full IELTS on computer test
- you sit your One Skill Retake within 60 days of your full IELTS test
Please not that you can only complete your retake once per full IELTS test.

You need to log into your IDP IELTS Account and choose the option "One Skill Retake" (if available).
How long after my test can I take the retake?
You can take the retake up to 60 calendar days after your original four-skill test.
Should I prepare myself for the new test?Will I receive a new Test Report Form (TRF) with updated results?
Yes. You will receive a new Test Report Form (TRF) showing your new score for the retaken skill alongside the three original scores for the other components.
Who accepts IELTS One Skill Retake?
One Skill Retake is accepted by many universities and organisations, but you should always check in advance with your chosen institution to confirm their policy.
Can I request an Enquiry on Results (remark) and book One Skill Retake at the same time?
If you plan to submit an Enquiry on Results for your original test, you generally need to do so (for Listening/Reading/Writing) within two weeks. In that case, you should wait for the enquiry outcome before registering a One Skill Retake for the same test.
How much does IELTS One Skill Retake cost?
The fee is the same whether you retake Speaking, Listening, Reading, or Writing. Typically, the One Skill Retake fee is around 66% of the full test price. You will see the exact amount once you log in to your IELTS profile and select a new test date.
Can I take the retake at a different test centre from my original test?
This can be possible, but it usually needs to be with the same provider/organisation as your original test (e.g., IDP). Also, please confirm whether your receiving organisation accepts retakes taken in another country.
How does the retake work—Is it a “shorter” test?
You retake only one skill. The format and timing are the same as that skill in the full IELTS test, just without the other three components.
Can I take One Skill Retake more than once?
No. You can take only one One Skill Retake per full IELTS test.
